Town Mayor Councillor Ray Darby

Ray Darby has lived in Stapleford since 1970. He lives with his wife Maureen, a retired teacher and both his adult children grew up attending the local schools.

Originally from Beeston, Ray attended school at Church Street Juniors and Beeston Fields Secondary Modern School.

Ray is a joiner by trade and now works part-time as The Clerk of Works (CoW) in building and civil engineering.

Ray has been a Councillor for 26 years and this is Ray’s third term of being Stapleford Town Mayor. He has previously been elected as Mayor in 2011 – 2012, 2015 – 2016 and currently 2019 – 2020.

Ray is a Founding member of the Nottingham Karlsruhe Friendship Club.

In his spare time Ray runs a Junior badminton club at Chilwell Olympia which he has been running for 46 years.
