To Commemorate the Anniversary of the ending of the hostilities of the First World War in 1918 Stapleford Town Council is hosting a Poppy Prom, performed by the Newark and Sherwood Concert Band (NSCB).
Following on from the success of the 2017 30th Anniversary Concert, many people asked for NSCB to return to Stapleford.
Stapleford Town Council has been successful in its bid for funds from NCC Community Commemoration Fund, (many thanks for the support from Cllr John Longdon), and Stapleford Town Council is delighted to present a Poppy Prom, on 8th September 2018.
The venue is the atmospheric St Helen’s Parish Church, where to quote Musical Director Colum J O’Shea ‘the music just bounces, giving a great sound’.
All profits from the Poppy Prom will be going towards the Annexe Project at St Helen’s Parish Church. This is very apt and will be a living Memorial of the Town Council’s Commemoration of this Anniversary. St Helen’s is the home of the Memorial Chapel, built to commemorate those ‘Who Gave Their Lives in the First World War’ and subsequent conflicts. The Annexe will cater for future generations of Staplefordians.
NSCB is a Concert Band regularly performing throughout the County. Based at Kelham Hall the Band regularly plays to sell out audiences at a variety of venues. In November 2017 the Band achieved Gold Award at the National Concert Band East Midlands Regional Festival.
You will be ‘blown away’ by this fantastic Wind Band and will not want to miss the musical event of the season.
Tickets cost £10 each and are available by contacting us or from St Helen’s Parish Church.
This will be a night to remember listening to one of the most exciting sounds in the East Midlands as NSCB bring the music vibe alive.
